Need inspiration for a pink and blue gender reveal party? Check out ours that we threw to reveal our little girl!
Gender reveal parties are SO MUCH FUN! I knew even before I got pregnant that I wanted to throw one when we found out the sex of our baby. It was so fun to plan it and keep a secret from everyone and only my husband and I (and okay, maybe my mom because you can't keep Nana K out of the loop) were the only ones who knew about it. I am NOT a good secret keeper, so it was hard to not slip up. Even still, I might have accidentally spilled the beans to some friends a few hours before the party. I'm telling you, I suck at secrets.
I had seen such cute ideas on Pinterest that I knew I could come up with the cutest decorations ever. We planned for this party for months! I was so excited and I'm so happy with the way that everything turned out. Everyone had so much fun and I think we will all be talking about it forever!
If you are planning to throw your own gender reveal party, hopefully this will give you some inspiration on decorations, food, and activities! Whatever you choose to do, make sure its FUN! You only get to find out the gender of this baby once. You might as well make it memorable! ;)
Sadly, I have no pictures of the food setup (except the cupcakes!) because everyone was STARVING and ran up to the table like a pack of wild animals before I could take a picture. Ha! But honestly, we were in such a hurry there was no organization to it at all. And no one cared one bit! We had a pretty modest menu and it didn't cost us much, but it was delicious, homemade, and everyone raved about it. Here's what we had:
- Hamburger sliders with Hawaiian rolls and hot dogs from the grill
- Homemade ranch pasta salad
- Homemade slaw
- All the condiments, including homemade chili
- Pink and blue cupcakes
We made so much food that we had a bunch leftover, but it made for great lunches and dinners for the next week! My family is made up of a bunch of amazing cooks, so we had no problem in the food department.
The reveal did not turn out like we were hoping, but nonetheless it was still so much fun. The idea was to fill up water guns with paint and my husband and I would squirt each other while wearing white shirts. The paint would show up on the shirts and everyone would know what it is. Cool right? Well, it would have worked if I would have used my brain!
Instead of just putting regular paint in there, I decided I needed to buy washable paint because I didn't want my shorts to get stained. Then I thought I needed to water the paint down so its not so hard to squirt out of the bottle. This was a bad idea for obvious reasons! So the paint BARELY showed up on our shirts and no one could tell what the color was. We ended up having to yell out, "It's a girl!" So everyone would figure it out! Ha! Yeah, pregnancy brain caught on to me that day, but it still worked out great and everyone was so excited that we were having a little princess to spoil!
The decorations were one of my most FAVORITE parts of this day! I was so proud of myself because I picked them all out with little help from my husband, which says a lot for me haha. He is usually the one who decorates everything and does a wayyyyy better job than me. But I did it! And I think it turned out beautifully.
I wanted to add some baby photos of my husband and I to the table decor because I absolutely love baby photos haha! I also added some ultrasound pictures of our baby girl. I can't believe how long of legs she has!
The one thing I really wanted was a photo booth because let's face it, you can't have a party without a photo booth! I love using the props, I think they are so creative! We found almost all of our decorations from Party City, including the props for the photo booth. I didn't want to have to print them out and glue sticks to them, so when I found these props I was so excited! Here's something similar to ours on amazon. My husband also made the frame with PVC pipes and it literally costed us $10 and putting it together was SO easy. We got the materials and instructions from this website. It's also really easy to take down and store until your ready to use it again.
The photo booth was a great hit and I would totally do it again!
This gender reveal party was so fun for my husband and I especially after we have waited so long for this little girl to arrive. If you are planning your own gender reveal or one for a friend, I hope ours gave you a little inspiration to get you started!
